At 6:07pm on Wednesday January 21, 2009 I was born.
It was around 7:45am when some of my home leaked out from around me. Little did I know the events that would unfold after that. First, what was left of my home was prodded by a doctor, who told mommy that the rest of the sac was intact. Mommy was sent to the hospital. That's when things got really interesting.
My home keep squeezing together every 3 to 5 minutes. This caused mommy a lot of pain, and it was no picnic for me either. This went on for a few hours, but I didn't want to leave yet. Around 11:00 I saw a stick with a hook at the end of it near me, and then felt the whoosh of all the fluid around me leaving. Mommy was given pitocin that made the squeezing worse, but I wasn't going anywhere.
Around 4:00 mommy's pain was very bad so another doctor gave her an epidural. This made mommy verrrry relaxxxxed. Actually, a little too relaxed. Her blood pressure, and my heartrate, dropped a little while afterwards and this caused a bunch of people to rush into the room. They tossed mommy around and did all sorts of stuff to return it to normal.
The doctor told mommy that I wasn't dropping down enough, and that she could have a c-section if she and daddy wanted. They decided to do this rather than risk any other scares so mommy was taken to a very bright room. In this room the doctor snuck up on me from behind and pulled me out of mommy. It was very bright and very cold. I tried to tell them this but everyone ignored me, and began poking and prodding me.
Finally the moment arrived when I got to meet mommy and daddy in person for the first time. They seem like decent enough people, and seem like they are prepared to be a family. I will be sure to test this over the years. Especially daddy.
I weighed 7 pounds 15 ounces and was just over 21 inches long when I was born. My weight went up a little after mommy fed me. After that mommy, daddy and I were taken to our new room where I met my grandparents and some other family members. They seemed impressed, so whatever I did, I think I did a good job.
After a very long day, I slept most of the night, unlike mommy and daddy. Every little noise I made would bring daddy over to check on me. By morning, I don't know which of us was the more tired.
The last 9 months I've spent a lot of time by myself, growing as a person. I know I still have more growing up to do, but I'm glad I get to share the journey with my parents, family and friends. I will try to be a wonderful gift to my parents, as they gave me the gift of life.
Now, where's daddy? I have a gift in my diaper for him.

I just want know where your picture is? And if your daddy has any cigars? :)
ReplyDeleteCasey is absolutely gorgeous! I held him and he smiled (probably gas), big beautiful eyes trying to focus on my face. He ended up with hiccoughs which lasted a good 20 minutes until he decided he had enough and squealed....not a true cry, just a squeal of impatience. Suddenly no more hics - he squiggled and tried to cry, then fell sound asleep. Had to check to see if he was breathing - he was so quiet, so still....I'm in love with a wonderful guy!!!!
ReplyDeleteI think you're a very lucky little boy Casey! Don't give Mommy & Daddy too much grief, okay?
ReplyDeleteCasey......I am so glad to have FINALLY met you... after you spectacular journey!! You are definately a handsome and stout fellow and are soooo lucky to have Eric and Cathy as your MOM and DAD.
ReplyDeleteOh Casey what a wonderful way to start your story. At least you can say that you won't do anything without a fight. Rememeber to let Mom get some rest and give Dad lots of reasons to giggle. We can't wait to see you grow up into a wonderful little man but for now grab a blanket and snuggle!
